The Quest and 48 Hr Film on NPR

On Thursday, May 6, Quest director, Christopher Andersen, and Mark Ruppert, executive producer of the 48 Hour Film Project appeared on the Kojo Nnamdi Show on NPR station WAMU 88.5 FM. Mark was asked to be a guest on the program to talk about this year's 48 Hour Film Project and the 10th Anniversary of the Project. Show producer, Ingalisa Schrobsdorff asked Mark to bring a filmmaker along. Mark invited Christopher to join him on the air, probably because of our tales of battling fires and rivers to make films, but we choose to pretend it's because the Quest makes good movies.

Guest host, Sam Litzinger, was warmly enthusiastic about the Project: its creativity under pressure, its fresh approach to filmmaking, and its sense of adventure. He was also taken by the Quest's political mockukmentary, Stonking. He played a clip from the film featuring Stewart Walsh's onslaught on a Ward 6 voter.

Film Shoot at the Capitol Skyline Hotel

On May 1, the Quest shot their 2010 entry in the 48 Hour Film Project at the Capitol Skyline Hotel. Thanks to the initiative of team member, Pamela Nash, and the kind assistance of hotel general manager, Jeff Ragonese, the Quest checked in for the weekend at the beautiful retro-styled hotel. Our film, Under My Skin has a cool retro-60's look.

Stewart and Chris: Fear of Love

Stewart and Chris are opening for 5678 Improv at the Comedy Spot with their new show, Fear of Love. It's a 15 minute improvised scene of love, longing and melancholy.

Oh, and it has a rocking anthem written by indie songwriter, Marq-Paul LaRose.

In the 2008 Washington, DC 48-Hour Film Project, the Quest film, Spy, Gina, Spy! was named by the judges as one of the best of the festival this year. The film will screen one more time at the AFI SIlver Theater.

Michelle kicks ass. Again.

This spring, the 29 teams that competed in Washington Improv Theater's most riotous improv competition of the year, the Fighting Improv Smackdown Tournament, learned what the rest of the Quest has always known -- Michelle Swaney kicks improv ass.

Twenty-nine, three-person improv teams competed for the audience's vote in a single-elimination competition. Only one survived -- Polygamy, a team made up of the Quest's Michelle Swaney; the Quest's teacher and mentor, Ken Hays; and filmmaker and comic dreamboat, Mike Bass. Polygamy is the most heart-warming comedy show you will ever see about an illegal and slightly-perverse marital relationship.

The Quest is proud to announce that Pamela Nash has joined us as our producer. Known in DC as the director of the successful 5678 improv troupe, Pam brings her impressive marketing, networking and showmanship skills to producing all of the Quest's live improv comedy performances.
